Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) for Film

PVA APPLICATION IN FILM PRODUCTION
  • What is PVA Film?

PVA film, primarily composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), offers unique advantages that conventional PE, PP, and PVC films cannot match. These include exceptional transparency, reduced static electricity generation, superior oil and solvent resistance, excellent barrier properties, durable film structure, and printability. Through natural processes, it rapidly degrades into low-molecular compounds while also improving soil quality. This makes PVA a groundbreaking eco-friendly packaging material.

  • The types of PVA Film

PVA film can be divided into two types according to its use: water insoluble film and water soluble film:

⑴ Water insoluble film: used for food packaging, high-grade textile packaging and general cling film. Water insoluble film is generally made of Fully Alcoholysis PVA, such as 17-99.

⑵ Water-soluble film:  used for soap powder, insecticide, bleaching powder, pigment packaging and hospital physician and patient clothing washing bags, physiological cotton packaging, etc. It is generally made of incomplete alcoholysis PVA, such as 17-88,0588, etc.

  • The Films can be made by PVA

In addition, PVA can also be used to process polarized film, stripping film and other thin film products.
The main production processes of PVA film include: dry extrusion blow molding filming, dry water-free melt extrusion filming, water-melt extrusion filming, solution casting filming. At present, the main processes of PVA Filming are solution casting filming process and dry extrusion blow molding filming process.
